Injection #8
No problems with number 8 on sunday but the pain in my back and hips hasn't receded. In fact it appears to migrate on a daily basis with pain in my knees for the past few days. I saw my GP on tuesday and he prescribed Co-Dydramol tablets, a codeine/paracetmol painkiller. It helps the pain but leaves me pretty 'spaced-out' which is no use if I have anything to do. Interestingly he was about to prescribe an anti-inflammatory until I pointed out that they were to be avoided during treatment. He learns a new thing everytime I see him. Wendy's comment about the drugs possibly 'peaking' at this point in treatment was encouraging, hopefully the pain will subside.
I had an appointment with the psychiatrist yesterday and we agreed that theres been a big improvement in my mood and outlook since starting on the anti depressants. I commented that they had started to take effect after only a week of taking them and he mentioned that this is often the case with treatment induced depression. Hopefully this will be encouraging to others considering an SSRI while on treatment, its made a world of difference to me.
I received a message from my nurse on monday to update me on last weeks 'bloods' and she had some encouraging news. My levels were pretty much the same as before with the exception that my liver functions have improved, at last I can see that there is some benefit in all this. I need regular reminders these days.

Hi Alan
Yep we all need some good news now and again, especially to keep going through this treatment! Hope the pain recedes soon. Have you tried having a massage?

Hi Alan,
Great news on the liver function tests coming down, that is really wonderful!
Hope that you have some relief from your joint pain soon. Wonderful to hear that the antidepressants have kicked in so positively. You are one third of the way finished.

Hi Alan
Been catching up on your blog - you sound good overall - despite the aches and pains which sound really irritating. Good news on your 'bloods' and reaching the third finished stage. Interesting information about the anti-depressants kicking in so soon on tx.
All the best
Ron
